Initial Visit
When you arrive for your first visit we will ask you to fill out
several forms that will get you acquainted with our office. Please be
prepared to complete all health and insurance information forms that
will allow us to begin your dental treatment. Also, if you have dental
insurance coverage, we will need to make a copy of your current
insurance card, so please bring that with you. Please call our office
if you have a latex allergy, need to take any type of premedication or
have any other health concerns we should know about before your
appointment
.
Your initial visit will consist of the following:
- All necessary radiographs (X-rays)
- Review of medical history
- Oral examination, including:
- oral cancer screening
- occlusal analysis
- orthodontic screening
- periodontal screening
- Diagnosis and treatment plan
Note – Many adult patients have some degree of gum disease, which requires more detailed periodontal treatment; therefore, adult patients are never scheduled for a prophylaxis (cleaning) during their initial visit. If you do not require periodontal treatment, your prophylaxis is usually scheduled during your final appointment at the completion of your treatment plan.
At the end of your initial visit, our staff will explain the doctor’s findings and what treatment is necessary for you to achieve the optimum dental health. We will also provide fee and/or co-payment estimates for you based on the information you provide us regarding any dental insurance coverage. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your dental treatment.
Should you have any questions please feel free to call us. We look forward to seeing you.
