Dentures are a great option for tooth replacement. At AccuCare Dental Centers, we create new dentures and replace ill-fitting dentures. There are primarily 4 types of dentures and we offer them all: full, partial, immediate, and replacement dentures. Here are some more details on each type of denture.
Dentures are a great option for tooth replacement. At AccuCare Dental Centers, we create full dentures for people who are missing all of their natural teeth. We also offer both types of dentures to our patients – both immediate and conventional.
Immediate dentures are placed immediately after their teeth are extracted. Conventional dentures are placed 8 to 12 weeks after the teeth extracted.
The benefit of conventional dentures is that they are better fitted to the gums and bone of the patient’s mouth. Immediate dentures are normally used as a temporary replacement while the patient’s gums and bone heals.
Partial dentures are used for replacement when the patient has one or more healthy natural teeth still present in the mouth. A fixed bridge replaces one or more teeth by placing crowns on the teeth on either side of the space and attaching artificial teeth to them.
Not only do partial dentures replace the missing teeth, they also prevent the present natural teeth from shifting in an unhealthy direction.
A bridge replaces the gap between missing teeth. Bridges are made by anchoring to the natural teeth on either side of them or by anchoring via a dental implant.
The “fake” teeth in between the bridge are made up of porcelain, metals, ceramics or a combination of these materials. On your first visit we will give you a temporary bridge, so you’ll never have to go without teeth. Then on your second visit, you’ll be given your permanent bridge.
This is a great option for those who want a fixed dental restoration solution, but cannot afford complete dental implants. We’ve included a great video animation below showing how dental bridges work:
